Newark, Ohio—If You Could See Us Now. Wait, you can! Weathervane’s 2009 season is about to begin. Weathervane Playhouse returns for its 41st season with classic titles and family favorites. This gem of Newark, Ohio, is THE place to be this summer.
Sweet Charity
Weathervane’s 2009 Season opens with the feel-good musical Sweet Charity. Come meet Charity Hope Valentine, a lovelorn dance hall hostess at the Fan-Dango Ballroom: she’s a true original, an eternal optimist, and is in search of just one thing - happiness. But it seems the harder she searches the more difficult it is to find. Why? Because Charity’s idea of happiness is a man… Join Charity on her adventures, or rather misadventures, in love as she shows us the rhythms and sounds of New York in the 60s. Originally directed and choreographed in 1966 by Bob Fosse, Sweet Charity is packed full of all-time great show-stopping numbers including Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and Rhythm of Life.

The Cemetery Club
The only tears you’ll shed at this cemetery are those from laughter! The Cemetery Club is a witty and wise comedy with a kick. Take three middle-aged widows - one who flirts outrageously, one who is dedicated to the memory of her husband, and one who is beginning to realize that she still has a life to live - throw an eligible widower into the mix, and watch the sparks fly!

Into The Woods
Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods combines the well-loved fairy tales of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, with the tale of a childless Baker and his Wife, who catalyze the action of the story by attempting to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child.

The Secret Garden

Weathervane Playhouse is Ohio’s longest running not-for-profit professional summer stock theatre.
