In Memory of James W. Pyle 

Mr. Pyle, an attorney and partner of Reese, Pyle , Drake and Meyer P.L.L. 

A 1962 graduate of Newark High School, Jim lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He was named to the  first All-Ohio team as an offensive end and was co-captain. Jim later would be inducted into the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and Key Club, and received the Newark B’nai B’rith Good citizenship Award. Jim furthered his education at Cornell University, graduating in 1966. While there, he played football all four years and lettered in 1965. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and the Sphinx Head Honor Society, a group that recognizes Cornell’s senior class members who have given their time and passion to the university. The society was founded in 1890 by a group of senior males whose goal was to uplift the Cornell community. It is the university’s oldest secret senior honorsociety. Mr. Pyle then graduated in 1969 from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review.

Jim was a member of the Newark Ski Club, Granville Tennis Club and the Ohio State Bar Association, a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation, and a member of the Licking County Law Library, where he served as secretary-treasurer and on the board for more than 25 years, and the Newark Public Library Board for 18 years. He served as president of the Licking County Bar Association, Newark Lion’s Club, and the Newark Area Chamber of Commerce in 1993-1994.

Mr. Pyle passed away on Wednesday December 26, 2007.
