Pizza in Newark Ohio

September 22nd, 2007 Posted in Dining | No Comments »

This post is dedicated to identifying the best pizza choices in Newark, Ohio. I am limiting the selection to those places that have a dedicated website or webpage to a Newark-area location.

Debra’s Pizza
318 Hudson Ave
345-1350
Website: www.debraspizza.com
Comments: I don’t know much about this place, but the rank highly in Google when you type in “Newark Ohio pizza.”

Pizza Cottage
969 Mt. Vernon Road
Website: www.pizza-cottage.com
Comments: This pizza place is scheduled to open in Fall 2007. If it is anything like the location at Buckeye Lake, it will be a Newark favorite in no time.

NerkAggrivate.com: Watchdog of Newark, Ohio

September 13th, 2007 Posted in Websites, General | No Comments »

I came across NerkAggrivate.com the other day.  It’s a pretty interesting site–  take a look.  According to the editor, the central focus of the site is

“stimulating action to end substandard housing and encourage the public to become more involved and informed about their government and demand better performance from our elected officials.”

That’s a pretty lofty goal– and also a very worthwhile one too.  It appears from the site that they publish an “edition” of the site each quarter with a variety of editorial articles, and my favorite:  photos of some of the most poorly maintained properties in Newark, Ohio.

Will Newark Get The Columbus Crew Training Facility?

September 6th, 2007 Posted in News | 1 Comment »

Newark, Ohio is one of several finalists to build & host the new training facility for the Columbus Crew professional soccer team. Read more about this endeavor in a May 2007 Columbus Crew press release. The current Crew training facility is located in Obetz, but the team is looking at several Columbus, Ohio area options.

Newark is probably the furthest option of all those being considered, however it may have the best location of all. The current NASA complex has plenty of room for the 15+ fields the facility would require. The site would quickly become a magnet for top-notch tournaments, and could offer Newark, Granville and Heath-area players one of the finest soccer facilities in the nation– right in our own backyard.
